Plumbing Contractors: Did You Plumb Forget?
Building or remodeling a home involves quite a lot of planning. Forgetting to consider a necessary aspect of the whole project can be all too easy. Before you start the actual work, sit down and list all the professionals you need to use to complete the building or remodeling. Near the top of that list should be electrical and plumbing contractors.
Careful planning will keep you from discovering that you have had the water, sewer and gas pipes installed before the walls were enclosed. Nothing can cause delays and added expense like having to tear open walls and flooring to install wires and pipes.
If you are using a general building and remodeling contractor, find out which company or companies they usually subcontract electrical and plumbing work to and check them out. Find out if you can hire a different company if you have one you prefer that they don’t typically use. It is better to have confidence in the electricians and plumbers doing the work than to just let the general contractor use companies you don’t know or feel comfortable with.
Once you have settled on a plan and the companies you want to use, keep tabs on the project from start to finish. Be as involved as you can so you can ask questions and answer any questions they may have. If some change in the plans need to be made, you are aware of it right away and can be apprised of what needs to be changed and why. Chances are good that it will have a ripple effect with the electrical and plumbing contractors, causing them to make adjustments to the planned wiring and plumbing work.
