Commercial Drain Cleaning Tips For Business and Home
Whether it is in a restaurant kitchen or a home bathroom, a clogged drain is a problem. Kitchens often have grease buildups causing a sink to drain slowly and eventually stop draining at all. Hair, toothpaste and dirt build up and clog bathroom drains. Knowing how to clear the clog will make the sink or tub usable until a plumber can thoroughly clean the pipes of any buildup that remains.
Several methods of opening a clogged drain are given here in these commercial drain cleaning tips. You can try one or more of them to try to get the clog cleared out before calling your plumbing service. These work on clogs fairly close to the drain opening in the sink.
This recipe for drain cleaner is considered on of the best homemade solutions. Into a quart of hot water, add a tablespoon of salt, a cup of white vinegar and a tablespoon of a degreasing formula dish soap. Mix them together well and then pour enough of the solution into the clogged drain to reach the sink. Let it sit for up to ten minutes. If the water disappears, do it again and then run hot water for several minutes to flush the drain. If the clog doesn’t budge and allow the solution to drain, use a plunger to push the clog on through.
Another simple recipe to try is vinegar and baking soda. Pour a cup of baking soda into the drain, wait a few minutes and then pour in a cup of vinegar. Let the combination of baking soda and vinegar fizz until the water drains from the sink and run clean water to finish flush it.
If none of the above tips work, you can try using a plumbing snake to clear the clog. If you don’t have one handy, they can be rented. If the snake doesn’t work, it is likely that the clog is in the drain trap or further along in the pipes. If this is the case, you will need to call your plumber in to clear it and thoroughly clean your pipes. For more tips on cleaning your drain, call C-IT-ALL Plumbing at 918-251-3155.
